A&E Construction Co. was responsible for the renovation of the Vivarium on the lower level of the Clinical Research Building (CRB) for the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Medicine. The project totaled approximately 1,000 square feet and involved the renovation of existing research laboratories and support spaces to accommodate a new autoclave. The scope of the project included selective demolition and the removal of an existing two-story stair tower, as well as the construction of a pit and an infill floor for the autoclave. Epoxy flooring was installed and all surfaces are covered with epoxy paint. In addition, a new exhaust hood and exhaust system was installed and medical gases were supplied to the area. .
