6.6.2008 - A&E Construction has been awarded a construction contract by The Buccini/Pollin Group (BPG) to renovate the 14-story Sheraton Edison Hotel Raritan Center in Edison, New Jersey. This project, for which A&E had been providing Preconstruction Services since February 2008, continues the relationship with BPG that began with the construction of the Wharf at Rivertown in Chester, Pennsylvania.
The project involves the renovation and reconfiguration of much of the hotel’s public spaces. When completed, the main floor will feature a renovated lobby including a new registration desk and concierge station, new gift shop, new business center, and a new restaurant area including a new coffee shop as well as renovated ballrooms and bathrooms. In addition, meeting rooms on the second floor will be renovated. The lower level will feature a renovated fitness center and pool area.
Exterior construction will include the renovation of the exterior wall panels and the building’s curtain wall system as well as the replacement of the building’s high roof. In addition, miscellaneous site and landscaping improvements will be completed.
The architect for the project, which has a construction budget of approximately $8,500,000, is Jonathan Nehmer + Associates of Rockville, Maryland. Construction is slated to begin in June 2008 with occupancy expected in November 2008.
