6.06.2007 - A&E Construction to expand and renovate Flourtown Shopping Center in Flourtown, Pennsylvania
A&E Construction has been awarded a contract by Federal Realty Investment Trust of Wynnewood, Pennsylvania and Rockville, Maryland to expand and renovate the Flourtown Shopping Center in Flourtown, Pennsylvania. This multi-phased project involves three components including a new 13,000 square-foot retail building, the re-facading of the existing center, and associated sitework at the center and represents A&E’s first project for Federal which is one of the country’s largest retail owners/developers.
The new retail building will be constructed within their existing parking lot and will accommodate seven new retailers. Following the relocation of some of the existing center’s tenants into this new building, a portion of the existing center, including a vacant K-Mart, will be demolished and the remaining portion will be re-facaded. Finally, the site will be prepared for a new Home Depot retail store which will be constructed separately.
The architect for this project is Ignarri-Lummis of Cherry Hill, New Jersey and, depending on which alternates are taken by the owner, this project will have a construction cost of between $3,600,000 and $4,000,000. Construction will begin in June and will be completed by January 2008.
